FASHION VICTIM

I took the liberty to retouch existing photos for this subject: fashion victims. I was struck, recently, by the conflict between war pictures and fashion. You turn one page and you shift from a photo of a guy who lost both legs in Afghanistan, to a model on a Rolls Royce, posing on stiletto heels and metal short skirt, holding a poodle that seems to have received more hairstyle than her owner. Where is the border between good sense and respect? How advertising can be so much out of place, at times? The reader is confused, shocked, appalled. It you don’t care about moral matters, think about brands placing their ads in such position. Don’t you think their investment is wasted, if not even backfiring? Publishers of fashion mags should put extreme care in mix-matching contents, separating with extreme care what is cool from what is hot. And burning.
